Using Pantone’s Color of the Year 2016 in Home Design
Tuesday, December 8, 2015
saw Radiant Orchid. 2015 held the wine-like Marsala in high regards. Now, with 2016 on the horizon, the
authority on all things color, Pantone, has announced not one but two colors as Color of the Year. Make way for Rose Quartz and
Serenity in home design for 2016.

not necessarily the best colors to use for cabinets or countertops in home
design, Rose Quartz and Serenity can be used as accents in almost any room of a
home. Completely redesigning rooms may not be everyone’s New Year’s resolution,
so gradually adding swatches of the Color of the Year, or even using home
design components that aren’t permanent, are always an option.
their website, Pantone states they chose the pastel duo because after having bold
colors for the past few years, Pantone wanted the Color of the Year to be a
softer take on color for 2016. Why pink and blue? Well, Pantone states Rose
Quartz and Serenity “demonstrate the inherent balance between a warmer rose tone
and the cooler tranquil blue.” By blending these two hues as the Color of the
Year 2016, Pantone hopes Rose Quartz and Serenity will promote a sense of
wellness and invoke a soothing sense of order and peace. What’s better than
having a home that’s not only organized to
match each individual, but also having a home that is the utmost relaxing?
opting for Rose Quartz or Serenity as paint colors doesn’t suit your idea of
calming or tranquil, Pantone has listed their entire pairings for both shades
of the Color of the Year 2016. Pantone boasts that because of the tranquil and
calming feelings surrounding he Color of the Year, it goes well with all
finishes, and colors such as browns, grays, and more. See a sample of the color
pairings for inspiration in a new home design below.
