The old saying goes that as one door in life closes, another will certainly open. And what an incredibly wonderful one that new door can literally be! At least that’s what Kelly Bros. Home & Design Center can attest to. Among its sizable customer base are people in transition, from empty nesters who are busily remodeling in order to stay in their homes longer, to retirees who are downsizing to smaller homes with upgraded amenities.
Surprisingly, both of these groups are reportedly shifting their home preferences away from traditional styles towards more transitional and contemporary designs. It’s as if a conscious choice has been made to begin a new life chapter by making a “lane change” from how they’ve lived so far. As a result, these customers now want homes featuring cleaner and simpler lines, with interiors that feel brighter and more youthful.
On the topic of opening doors, it’s somewhat poetic that part of this new design aesthetic actually extends to a feature of their house that previously may have only received secondary attention…doors!
According to Kelly Bros.’ Door and Window manager, Brandon Coppage, door selection has proven to be an effective way in which homeowners can express their new-found architectural style. “These customers are looking to differentiate themselves, and one way to achieve this is by looking for more options beyond the standard door profile they would see in every other home.”
TruStile® Doors is one of Kelly Bros.’ manufacturers whose products are strongly resonating with this crowd. While their Tru&Modern™ Door Collection has over 100 contemporary styles that incorporate different wood species and glass options, it’s really TruStile’s panel inserts that make these doors a radical departure from standard modern fare. Featuring inlays of unique resin glass and chemically altered metals, it’s easy to see how they’ve become popular with homeowners who are looking to make a strong statement with their design choices.
A major renovation of their showroom in Covington has recently made it possible for Kelly Bros. to add displays for all their new contemporary product lines, including TruStile®.
